Our East Bay Hills are beautiful. We have some of the best
riding country in the world, with over 1,200 miles of
trails in the largest of all U.S. urban park systems. But
we do not take this good fortune for granted. The East Bay
Parks were once closed to equestrians, and
was formed to reopen them. From time
to time new controversies threaten our access to some of
our best trails, and development threatens local stables
TWHA advocates for the equestrian lifestyle in the East Bay
— places to keep our horses, parks to ride in, trails
to ride on, safety, parking for horse trailers, and
solidarity among equestrians.
We provide social resources and events to bring equestrians
together. We raise funds that go to trail improvement and
maintenance, and to raising awareness of our concerns with
park management. Over the last 10 years our popular East
Bay Hills Ride has attracted equestrians from all over
California and raised $150,000 to support our parks and
trails, which in turn has given us a credible voice with
the East Bay Park District.
